In a recent study published January 2019, researches found that whey supplementation increased fat loss in men between 18 to 49 years of age.
The men were split in 2 groups. Both groups receiving adequate amounts of protein . The whey group had additional 41g in whey.
Although the whey group had additional calories they also saw better fat loss results. The researchers suspect that the additional protein increased the burning of calories for heat. This is known as the thermic effect of food.
For those looking to lose additional fat this might be a good strategy. Although the research doesn't include the timing or type of whey, adding around 40g post workout would be a safe strategy.
